Managing early stages of abortion at home cuts hospital stay: trial
A study of 435 women has shown that 71% of early-stage abortion patients spent less than nine hours in hospital when first taking the abortion pill, misoprostol, at home, compared to 46% who took the initial dose in hospital. The international trial concluded that administering the first dose at home, following mifepristone at the clinic, is safe and decreases time spent in hospital, potentially elevating feelings of autonomy.
