Scientists at Sandia National Laboratories have developed a new, more accurate benchmarking system for quantum computers. The “mirror-circuit” testing method, funded by the Department of Energy’s Office of Science, is faster than conventional systems and highlights the technology’s true limitations. It has also allowed the researchers to find a way to improve current quantum computers through better understanding of the errors they encounter.
