Microsoft Defender Stops Flagging Tor Browser as Malware
Microsoft Defender wrongly flagged versions of the Tor Browser as potential threats due to a technical error. The issue arose from how the recently updated tor.exe file was perceived as a possible Trojan. After the Tor Browser team contacted Microsoft to resolve the glitch, the flagged files were confirmed as not malicious. Microsoft provided instructions to help users apply updates and remove false positives. However, users criticised the lack of a preliminary check to avoid such scenarios in the future. Tor Browser has stressed following rigorous safety measures before releasing software updates.
