Microsoft is killing off this Windows feature to stop it being hijacked for malware delivery

Microsoft is phasing out the VBScript programming language, only offering it on demand before removing it completely. VBScript launched in 1996, primarily serving task automation but has been overtaken by more effective tools and is widely speculated being a potential vector for malware. It was last updated in 2010, with Microsoft discontinuing VBScript on Internet Explorer by 2015.
