Residents of the Granny Lane area in Mirfield, UK, have criticised Kirklees Council’s flood risk management strategy and a planned 67-home development in an area prone to flooding. The Granny Lane Area Action Group (GLAAG) said the council’s plans added “insult to injury” to those living in the area. They accused developers Miller Homes of ignoring planning conditions and regulations, and expressed concern about the potential impact on mental health among existing residents.
