More heavy lifting ahead for healthcare CIOs

David Blumenthal, the nation’s healthcare IT chief, spoke at the CHIME10 Fall CIO Forum about the challenges of achieving meaningful use of health IT. He emphasized the need for data sharing, privacy, and security, as well as the importance of patient control and consent. Blumenthal acknowledged that there is still much work to be done and expects robust discussion and consideration of these issues to take place in the next six to eight months.
