More than 6,000 operations and appointments delayed by cyber attack in London

siteadmin July 8, 2024

A cyberattack on pathology supplier Synnovis in June 2024 resulted in NHS England postponing over 6,000 operations and appointments at London hospitals. Particularly impacted were King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The attack also exacerbated existing pressures from ongoing strikes. Efforts to restore services continue, with some improvement in pathology services, but not all cancelled operations have been rescheduled. Initial investigations suggest personal patient data may have been breached.
