The NHS Covid-19 app sent self-isolation alerts to over 600,000 people in England and Wales from 8-15 July, a 17% rise from the previous week. Businesses have complained about staff shortages due to these alerts. Those fully-vaccinated and working in certain key positions have been exempted from self-isolating if contacted by the app. Government plans state fully-vaccinated individuals contacted by the app won’t need to isolate from 16 August. Data reveals 607,486 alerts were sent in England and 11,417 in Wales during this period.
