National health lab estimates systems will only be online by mid-July after cyber attack

The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) is working to restore its systems following a cyber attack. The breach affected the delivery of test results and disabled the automatic generation and sending of reports to clinicians. The NHLS is implementing alternative strategies to ensure business continuity and developing an electronic registration system to provide test results. The organisation is the only source of laboratory services for the public sector in South Africa.
