Nearly All Firms Have Ties With Breached Third Parties

Nearly every firm has business relationships with third parties that have suffered security breaches, thus dramatically increasing security risks, according to an analysis by data science company Cyentia Institute. The study, which looked at data provided by cybersecurity risk-management firm SecurityScorecard, found that the typical firm had 60 to 90 times more fourth-party relationships than third parties. In particular, it noted that the IT sector had the most third-party partners, with an average of 25.
