Network security vendor COO accused of medical center cyberattack

The chief operating officer of a network security company has been arrested for a 2018 cyberattack on a Georgia health system. Vikas Singla, of Securolytics, allegedly targeted Gwinnett Medical Center for financial gain. Singla has been charged with intentional damage to a protected computer and obtaining information from a protected computer. The incident would have led to impaired care for at least one individual. Singla faces potential imprisonment if found guilty. Cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, such as healthcare, pose a significant threat to public health and safety.
