Scientists from the Institute of Research in Biomedicine and the Centre for Genomic Regulation have created a computational model, RTDetective, to predict the efficacy of disease therapies that target premature protein termination. Their model could help to design, develop and test drugs to treat hereditary disorders and cancers. The results, published in Nature Genetics, relied on pathogenic stop codon readings from a range of medical databases.
