New deep learning algorithm predicts effects of rare genetic variants

Scientists from the German Cancer Research Center, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, and the Technical University of Munich created an algorithm named DeepRVAT, based on deep learning, to predict the impact of rare genetic variants. DeepRVAT uses artificial intelligence to analyse genomic data and identify links between rare genetic variants and diseases. Initial tests show the system outperforms existing models and results are more robust and better replicable in independent data.
