New iPhone Hack Convinces Users With Fake Lockdown Mode
A new malware tampering technique tricks users into thinking their iPhone is in Lockdown Mode, potentially giving them a false sense of security. Lockdown Mode, introduced by Apple in 2022, minimises attack surfaces but does not prevent malware execution after a device has been compromised. Supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 10, and macOS Ventura and later versions, it disables certain file formats and features to limit exploitation opportunities. However, Lockdown Mode primarily aims to reduce potential attack vectors rather than stop malicious execution.
