New laws to protect the NHS and MoD from cyber attacks to be in King’s Speech
New laws to protect public services including the NHS from cyber attacks are set to be announced in the forthcoming King’s Speech. The legislation will mandate both public bodies and private companies within their supply chains to have protective measures against hacks. The decision follows two major cyber attacks this year, one against payroll services for the Ministry of Defence and a ransomware attack affecting NHS England’s blood tests. The new law is considered a higher immediate priority than legislation around artificial intelligence.
