New proxy malware targets Mac users through pirated software

Cybercriminals are exploiting Mac users with a new proxy trojan malware bundled with popular macOS software available on warez sites. The malware turns infected computers into traffic-forwarding terminals for illegal activity. Kaspersky discovered a campaign offering 35 trojanised versions of popular commercial software, with downloads coming as potentially hazardous PKG files, not standard disk images. The trojan blends with routine system operations to avoid detection and communicates with a C2 server, supporting a range of systems, including Android and Windows.
