New technique offers faster security for non-volatile memory tech

Researchers have created a hybrid system that leverages hardware and software to improve the security and speed of next-generation memory technology, non-volatile memories (NVMs). The new encryption technique enhances security without compromising the speed that NVMs offer. Tests showed the novel encryption architecture only slowed operations by 3.8%, compared to a 200% slow-down when using software approaches for the same workloads.
