New threat report reveals true dominance of ransomware

The second Elastic Global Threat Report reveals ransomware’s expansion and growing diversity. More than 50% of malware infections occurred on Linux systems, and credential access techniques are fundamental for cloud intrusion. The report advises corporations to enhance their security functions and monitor low-level behaviours to expose undiscovered threats due to increasing use of malware-as-a-service. With threat actors exploiting cloud-based environment vulnerabilities, companies are urged to utilise their cloud providers’ security features and monitor for common credential abuse attempts.
