New threat report reveals true dominance of ransomware

Elastic’s second Global Threat Report, based on over 1 billion data points over a year, shows a rise in ransomware and its diversification, with the majority of malware infecting Linux systems. The report warns of escalating threats utilizing the cloud and advises investment in security functions with visibility for previously undiscovered threats. Linux endpoints account for 91% malware signature events, Windows for only 6%. Credential access techniques have increased by 9% since last year, revealing a shift in adversary behavior.
