New threat report reveals true dominance of ransomware
Elastic’s Global Threat Report reveals ransomware expansion and a surge in malware infections on Linux systems. Malware-as-a-service offerings are resulting in companies investing in security that counters low-level behaviours. The five most prevalent ransomware families accounted for 81% of all ransomware activity. Encrypted endpoint security sensors and monitoring of vulnerable device drivers are advised for companies. Credential dumping on macOS accounted for 79% of all credentials access techniques. Increased migration to the cloud has prompted threat actors to exploit misconfigurations, weak access controls and unsecured credentials.
