FirstHealth of the Carolinas had its computer network shut down by a new version of the WannaCry ransomware. The health system detected the virus and took its system offline to remove it. No patient information or databases were compromised, but there have been delays and appointment cancellations as a result. FirstHealth has developed an antivirus patch for the WannaCry virus and will provide it to other healthcare organizations.
