New Xamalicious Backdoor Infects 25 Android Apps, Affects 327K Devices
The McAfee Mobile Research Team has discovered a sophisticated Android backdoor threat known as Xamalicious. This malware uses the Xamarin framework to hide malicious code that operates undetected. Once installed, it takes complete control of the device and is able to click on ads, install apps and perform other financially motivated activities without the user’s consent. The malware is linked to the notorious ad-fraud app, “Cash Magnet,” and has already compromised over 327,000 devices.
