NextGen Healthcare hit by BlackCat ransomware

A Russian ransomware group known as BlackCat or ALPHV has demanded ransoms of up to $1.5 million, with affiliates keeping 80-90% of the amount. The group claimed responsibility for an attack on EHR vendor NextGen, but NextGen has stated that no client or patient data was obtained. BlackCat is known for its triple extortion tactics and is believed to be operated by experienced cybercriminals. Ransomware attacks have doubled in recent years, causing significant disruptions in healthcare.
