NHS alert over shortage of type-O blood following hospital cyberattack

In response to a cyberattack targeting major hospitals in London, health leaders have initiated a blood drive across the UK, with an emphasis on type-O blood donations. Several surgical procedures and non-surgical appointments have been cancelled as a result of the ransomware attack, credited to Russian cybercriminals. There is presently a shortage in type-O blood stocks, with the NHS Blood and Transplant advising that more units than usual will be necessary in the coming weeks.
