NHS alert over shortage of type-O blood following hospital cyberattack

The UK is currently experiencing a major cyberattack by Russian hackers which has led to a significant disruption of several London hospitals including King’s, the Royal Brompton, Guys’, St Thomas’ and Evelina Children’s Hospital. The NHS is urgently requesting blood donations, particularly type-O, which can be matched with any blood type, to ensure life-saving operations can continue. More than a third of procedures, including more than 200 emergency operations, have already been cancelled due to the attack.
