NHS alert over shortage of type-O blood following hospital cyberattack

Following a ransomware attack on major London hospitals led by Russian cybercriminals, UK health leaders have organized an urgent nationwide blood drive. Type-O blood, which is compatible with all blood types, is in shortage and is especially needed due to the reduced ability for hospitals to quickly test patients’ blood for transfusion. Over a third of all procedures and operations, including 200 life-saving surgeries, have been cancelled.
