NHS at risk of being hit again as NCSC exec says IT systems “out of date”

Outdated IT infrastructure puts the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) at risk of more damaging cyberattacks, says Professor Ciaran Martin, the first CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). After a significant cyberattack in June 2024, Martin highlighted the NHS’s issues with outdated technology and poor security practices. The attack resulted in over 6,000 postponed appointments and procedures across London.
