NHS board warns patients over stolen personal details and extortion risk

The NHS Dumfries and Galloway health board has issued a warning to patients regarding stolen data published online last month by cybercriminals. The hackers gained the data in February and published information related to six patients. In May, they published 3 terabytes of information, including x-ray results and complaint letters. While stating that their IT systems are as secure as possible, the health board urged vigilance and for patients to call the Police Scotland line on 101.
