NHS calls for O-type blood donors following London cyber attack

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has asked for blood donations after a ransomware attack disrupted pathology services in London. The cyberattack on Synnovis on 3 June 2024 led to cancelled operations at several hospitals and GP services disruption. The attack means affected hospitals cannot match patients’ blood as frequently as usual. NHSBT has requested O Negative and O Positive blood donations in particular. Cybercrime group Qilin is reportedly behind the attack.
