NHS could have prevented WannaCry attack
The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) could have prevented the massive impact of the 2017 WannaCry virus through basic IT security measures, according to an investigation by the National Audit Office (NAO). The attack caused disruption in 34% of NHS trusts in England and thousands of operations and appointments had to be cancelled. The NAO said health authorities had been warned about the risks of cyber attacks on the NHS a year prior to the WannaCry outbreak.
