NHS Cyber Attack, August 2022: What’s the Fallout?
Advanced, a British software services provider, experienced a ransomware attack disrupting its systems on August 4. Advanced provides 85% of 111 services for the UK’s National Health Service, whose systems are used to refer patients, dispatch ambulances, create appointments and fulfill emergency prescriptions. The company hinted that some services may take weeks to fully recover. NHS England warned this could result in longer waiting times and the need for manual workarounds. It is not known if NHS data was stolen or whether a ransom was paid.
