NHS cyber-defender Marcus Hutchins to appear in US court

The UK cyber-security researcher who ostensibly stopped the WannaCry outbreak in May, 23-year-old Marcus Hutchins, will appear in court in Las Vegas, accused of creating and distributing banking login-stealing malware Kronos. The National Cyber Security Centre said it was aware of the case, causing surprise among cyber-security experts, many of whom expressed doubt about the indictment. The US indictment was dated 12 July, before Mr Hutchins arrived in the US, and alleges he sold Kronos on dark web marketplace AlphaBay.
