NHS cyber security: Ex security chief warns of future attacks
The ex-head of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre has warned that the NHS remains vulnerable to cyber-attacks unless it updates its ageing IT systems. The warning follows a major ransomware attack in June, believed to be carried out by a Russian hacking group, which led to over 6,300 appointments and surgeries being cancelled. On top of the outdated systems, the lack of a unified IT approach across NHS services has also raised security concerns.
