NHS data reportedly compromised in University of Manchester cyberattack

A recent ransomware cyberattack on the University of Manchester has compromised the NHS details of over a million patients across 200 hospitals. The stolen data potentially includes NHS numbers and partial postcode information of patients who were likely unaware they were on the database. The exposure of such sensitive data could lead to it being made publicly available and patients could fall prey to scams, damaging trust between the NHS and its patients. Following the incident, the university temporarily took its GlobalProtect VPN service offline.
