NHS experts raise warning over patient data breach risk in registries project

An NHS England project that aims to improve patient care by consolidating over 30 clinical registries into a centralised repository has come under fire for potentially breaching security. The Federation of Clinical Registries (FCR), a group of healthcare professionals, claim that the system is currently accessible to the public and is not protected by multi-factor authentication which contravenes NHS security procedures. The FCR advised that the platform should be taken offline until security concerns were addressed.
