NHS Highland reprimand for HIV patient email data breach

NHS Highland has been chastised by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)following a data breach that exposed the email addresses of individuals using HIV services. The mistake, made in June 2019, involved sending an email to 37 people using carbon copy rather than blind carbon copy. The health board has agreed to improve its data protection safeguards for HIV service users.
