NHS leaders warn of “major disruption” as strikes set to begin during heatwave
NHS services anticipate “major disruption” due to an upcoming strike by junior doctors amidst a national heatwave. It will be the 11th walkout by the British Medical Association over pay disputes. The cyber attack has also strained several hospitals, which operate with a reduced capacity. Some doctors, however, are given permission to continue work to avoid cancer care delays. Strikes begin on June 27 and end on July 2, and may be called off if the government restores their pay. The previous strike led to nearly 91,500 cancellations in appointments and procedures.
