siteadmin March 21, 2024

NHS Lothian has been fined £220,000 due to safety breaches which resulted in the deaths of two patients at Western General Hospital. Both were vulnerable men, aged 55 and 79 who fell from windows. The Health and Safety Executive found the hospital failed to ensure the patients were in rooms with suitably restricted windows, which posed increased risks for their conditions. NHS Lothian has pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
