NHS must ‘immediately stop sharing patient data’ with Home Office, say MPs | Science & Tech News

Members of Parliament (MPs) say the National Health Service (NHS) sharing patients’ data with the UK Home Office, in order to track immigration offenders, is a violation of patient confidentiality and should stop immediately. The deal between NHS Digital and the Home Office puts people in need of medical assistance, including possible victims of modern slavery and pregnant women, at risk, said Conservative MP Dr Sarah Wollaston, who chairs the House of Commons Health Select Committee.
