NHS must take urgent steps to defend against hackers, says White Paper | Imperial News

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is at risk from cyber attacks due to outdated computer systems, lack of investment and poor cyber security skills and awareness, according to a report by Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. The study recommends increased investment; hiring cyber security professionals; building ‘fire-breaks’ into systems to isolate segments if infected; and creating clear communication systems. The report stressed that scientists need to incorporate security into new health technologies. Hospital cyber attacks can disrupt patient care and theft of patient data.
