NHS Orkney sorry after records accessed inappropriately

NHS Orkney has reported a data breach in which a staff member potentially accessed patient records inappropriately. The breach was discovered following a public complaint. Health officials apologized, stating the involved employee no longer works for the organisation. Despite measures to prevent such incidents, including enhanced training and auditing, it is sometimes impossible to prevent deliberate breaches, said the health board. The case was reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
