NHS patients’ data still exposed in ‘honeypot for hackers’ after ‘failing to act’ on cyber attack warnings
The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and the University of Manchester ignored warnings over weaknesses in a database containing millions of patients’ records, according to the Federation of Clinical Registries. Despite a devastating cyber attack, a newly introduced system still leaves vast amounts of private records at risk. Critics, including haemophilia patients, are voicing their fears over plans to move 36 more patient registries onto the new system, which doesn’t require two-factor authentication.
