NHS seeks to recover from global cyber-attack as security concerns resurface | Hospitals
The UK National Health Service (NHS) is recovering from a major ransomware attack, which led to operations being cancelled and patient data becoming inaccessible. The attack also affected computers across 100 countries. The NHS faced criticism for the attack, as it was reported that nearly all health trusts use an obsolete Windows system. Some 40 NHS organisations were affected by the ransomware, called WanaCrypt0r 2.0 or WannaCry, which exploits a Windows vulnerability.
