NHS staff shared patients’ personal data over 500 times on WhatsApp

NHS Lanarkshire staff broke data protection rules by sharing sensitive patient information, including names, addresses, and medical details, on WhatsApp. The breach involved about 530 messages sent over two years. The UK Information Commissioner has launched an investigation into the matter, concluding that NHS Lanarkshire didn’t have suitable policies and procedures in place. The health board has apologised for the situation.
