NHS trusts were warned about WannaCry cyber attack, NAO report finds
Despite critical alerts urging system patching to prevent a cyber attack, 34% of NHS Trusts in England were impacted by the WannaCry ransomware in May 2017, a National Audit Office report has revealed. The Department of Health (DH), NHS Digital and the Cabinet Office had instructed trusts to migrate from old software, such as Windows XP, by April 2015. However, before May 2017, the DH had no mechanism to assess if advice had been followed.
