Healthcare professionals have critiqued claims patients were unaffected by the ransomware attack that took out computer systems in 45 UK National Health Service centres. In England and Scotland, despite measures to combat the cyber-attack, which shut down computers in almost 100 countries, procedures were cancelled and patients redirected. Medical professionals said their IT systems let them down and that test results could have been delayed or missed. Meanwhile, a patient reported her chemotherapy treatment was delayed while she awaited medication.
