No need to hack when it’s leaking, Wednesday edition: Eyecare Services Partners exposed more than 2 million patients’ SSN – researcher

Dallas-based EyeCare Services Partners’ (ESP) database of more than 500,000 freely downloadable files was found unsecured on GrayhatWarfare by an IT student. Among ESP’s files were more than two million social security numbers, with some protected by the most basic encryption. Fingerprint scans of what seem to be door entry systems were also made public. It is unclear who may have had access to the sensitive information, which was locked down 30 minutes after the student told ESP unaware.
