No new fax machines as NHS plans to ditch the outmoded tech by 2020

Benjamin Harris December 12, 2018

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) has been ordered to phase out the 8,000 fax machines still in use by March 2020. The decision was made due to advancements in digital healthcare technology and the need to improve communication with patients. The NHS is one of the major purchasers of fax machines, despite the security and functionality concerns associated with the outdated technology. The healthcare industry as a whole is shifting away from outdated practices and embracing more efficient and secure methods of communication, such as mobile technology.
