No relief in sight for ransomware attacks on hospitals

Despite a slight decline in 2022, ransomware attacks on healthcare organizations remain a significant threat. The attacks have impacted patient care and resulted in heavy costs for healthcare providers, with recovery costing an average of $1.85 million. According to a report, 61% of healthcare organizations paid the ransom following an attack. The attacks have also led to breaches of patient data, with 51.4 million records breached in 2022. Despite occasional apologies and amends from ransomware groups, there are currently no indications that such attacks will cease.
