Nonprofit Urges FTC to Block Sales of Alleged Malware-Infected Android TV Boxes

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has asked the Federal Trade Commission to stop Amazon and other vendors from selling Android TV boxes and mobile devices infected with malware. The EFF accuses Chinese manufacturers AllWinner and RockChip of adding infected TV boxes to a botnet for coordinated cyber-attacks. These devices are reportedly sold without proper security checks, and their widespread availability threatens user networks and internet security.
